The mooring was named after Gladys Dack, who used to live in a cottage only a couple of hundred yards down the bank on the opposite side of the Creek. The cottage is still there but derelict and sadly has trees growing up through the roof. But during its heyday, Gladys used to commute to Kings Lynn everyday in her car that used to be parked in a small layby. As can be appreciated, Gladys had to cross the Creek in order to get to her car and she did this via a wooden pontoon that could be pulled into place on either side of the Creek, this meant it wasn’t a hazard to the boats that navigated the Creek.
