Well Creek Trust

The Well Creek is maintained by the Well Creek Trust committee members as well as the Middle Level Commission.

50th Golden Anniversary

The Trust was formed back on the 23rd March 1970, but the planned 50 year celebration had to be cancelled due to Covid-19. However, we finally were able to celebrate it this year with a hog roast and dance, even though it was 2 years late. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was good to see our members again.

Springtime Clean Up

During springtime the annual clean up of the Creek is carried out by the committee members and volunteers.

Church Mooring Upwell

The Upwell Church Mooring was renovated in 2017, due to high usage over the years. Once again due to wear and tear and the weather, it is being refurbished due to rotten timbers and subsidence of the Creek bank. This work is more substantial and will take weeks to complete. But as you can see from the photo, the refurbishment is progressing well. The surface of the mooring will be made up of a more durable non slip fibre board and will last many years. Once the build has been completed, the committee will be able to focus on the bank replanting, taking care not to compromise its’ stability by planning this work carefully. To fund the refurbishment the Well Creek Trust applied to the Blunt Trust and the Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), which together fully funded the work and which the Well Creek Trust is very grateful.

Enhancing Popular Sites

The Trust is proud of the Creek and is always looking to enhance popular sites, such as erecting information boards showing the route of the Creek and the villages it passes through. Also, installing benches for people to rest while hiking along the Creek. The Trust also jointly owns and supports Martin Scott’s fishing for kids club landing stage.

The Trust

All of the above and more is supported by volunteers and members who sit on the committee.

The Trust is looking for new committee members, so if you are interested in helping the Trust, please contact us on our website or via our Facebook Group page.

We will be holding our next AGM on the 2nd February 2023 in Upwell Hall, where we look for members to volunteer their time and join the committee.
