Navigation: Upcoming Emergency Closure of Marmont Priory Lock
Please be aware that we will need to enact an emergency closure of Marmont Priory Lock in the New Year. The date is yet to be confirmed but likely to be mid/late January for 12-weeks. The downstream gates that were installed last February have been problematic to operate and the various fixes that have been attempted during last season have only temporarily improved matters before the gate operation stiffened again.
The emergency closure will enable to contractor to dewater the lock, remove the gates, diagnose the problem, rectify and then reinstall the gates. I’m sure boaters, like we are, are keen for this to happen and hopefully resolved as soon as practical. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. A start date will be confirmed in due course.
