Aqueduct Slipway
This area is a very popular picnic and general activity site. Where many families, and small clubs launch their light boats, sailboards and kayaks. Children are often seen paddling in the water with their fishing nets. The area also has a couple of fishing platforms for people with disabilities.
However, the parking area at the slipway had been turned into a quagmire, with many deep craters forming, created by lorries and trucks that ignored the weight limitation of the bridge and then used the area to turn around.
The Trust decided that the area needed repairing so that boat owners launching their boats into the Creek would no longer become stuck in the mud.
To rectify the problem the area has now been dug out mechanically and then a special thick breathable membrane has been placed on top. Finally, a special heavy duty mesh was laid down, which holds large ballasts of stones.
The area will be monitored to see how well the repairs hold up to this years activities.
